BRAIN MAPPING- ITS USES AND HOW IS IT DONE
Brain mapping is a detailed study of the brain, which includes the study of structure, both normal and abnormal. Brain mapping involves a very wide approach to collect information from the whole brain to the microscopic level. This approach involves brain imaging, neuropsychology, computer science, etc.
The brain scanning techniques which are used today are magnet encephalography {MEG}, positron emission tomography {PET}, functional MRI, and many others.
A detailed study of the brain is done using these techniques. These techniques are done on healthy volunteers. The ethnicity, family, and medical history can also be found out by adding DNA information. If any disease is caused, it can be found out with the help of this.
This brain mapping technique which is done on human beings, helps to find diseases like tumors, Alzheimer's, Parkinson’s etc. It also helps in various psychiatric disorders like depression, anxiety, and panic attacks.
